“The Ethics of Law: A Comparative Study of Shariah and Western Legal Thought.” This journal aims to foster a deeper understanding of the ethical foundations that underpin two of the world’s most influential legal systems: Shariah and Western legal thought.
We invite scholars from diverse backgrounds to submit original research papers that explore the ethical dimensions of law. The journal welcomes comparative studies that examine the convergence and divergence of these two rich legal traditions
Aims and Scope
We invite scholars from diverse backgrounds to submit original research papers that explore the ethical dimensions of law. The journal welcomes comparative studies that examine the convergence and divergence of these two rich legal traditions in areas such as:
*Natural Law vs. Divine Law: How do conceptions of inherent rights and divinely revealed law shape legal principles and reasoning?
*Justice and Equity: How do Shariah and Western legal thought approach concepts of fairness and proportionality in legal outcomes?
*The Role of Morality: To what extent do ethical considerations influence legal interpretations and applications?
*Emerging Issues: How do these legal systems address contemporary challenges like bioethics, environmental law, and technological advancements?
“The Ethics of Law” seeks to contribute to a more nuanced dialogue between these legal traditions, promoting mutual understanding and enriching legal scholarship. We encourage submissions that employ rigorous analysis, innovative methodologies, and clear communication.
